Chevy, a company that has long been tied to the race car industry, dominated the 97th running of the Indy 500 this year on May 26th.

Out of the top 10 finishers of the race, seven were driving Chevy engines, including the winner Tony Kanaan.

Carburetion Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a fun way to spend the Friday before the BIG race.  This has become a tradition of Solar Bat owner Gary Nesty, O.D. and his wife Leesa.  Among the many activities are the pit crew competition, the practice laps for the Indy 500 qualifiers and the Firestone Freedom 100 Indy Lights race.  This year's finish with 4 cars abreast at the line was so exciting and was one for the history books.

The fun zone at the track is filled with displays and games.  One of the most impressive sights was The American Pride Camaro.

The detail work is just amazing!

It is truly a work of art.

Just looking at it conjured feelings of immense pride in America!

Also, something else very impressive was the brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stringray Pace Car.  What a beautiful machine!  With a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine and 455 horsepower, it is definitely a force with which to be reckoned.  The new model will be on the market this fall.
